Murphy Bema

In order to make the Sanctuary space at Temple Sholom as flexible as possible -- allowing for the Social Hall to expand and to fully accommodate nine classrooms -- it was necessary to find a way to remove the bema platform and conceal the ark.
The idea for a "Murphy Bema" was developed. The platform uses spring-loaded hardware that allows for easy operation. The underside of the bema presents an attractive decorative pattern of stained woods.
